Steam pop-up that a controller is connected does come up in games when I launch them, too. I can get it to rumble to identify it, too. Steam does recognize that it's connected and does track input when I go to configuration. I did test a few other games and I couldn't get the controller working in Bastion or Into the Breach, either.
Mac keyboards require pressing the Fn button to trigger function keys, so maybe there's an issue registering that in the game? Is there another way I can force that? Or collect the information and submit it? Unfortunately, F10 didn't do anything in the game, at least in the menu.
